kin, noun
Old English cynn, of Germanic origin; related to Dutch kunne, from an Indo-European root meaning ‘give birth to’.
Kin Pottery Works is a pottery studio located in Abbeydale in Sheffield. A calm and welcoming space, offering a range of classes, workshops and studio memberships.
It began with a love for clay — the calm, grounding feeling of shaping something real with your hands. What started out as one maker at the wheel has grown into a vision for a studio built for people: a place to slow down, learn, and experience the quiet joy of making.
Our vision is to create a ‘home from home’, where creativity feels accessible, where beginners and experienced potters work side by side, and where community matters just as much as craft.
There’s no rush, no pressure to be perfect — just time, space, and support from people who care about the process as much as the outcome.
Kin Pottery Works is here for anyone who wants to try something new, or for makers who want to spend time at the wheel in good company.
Made by hand.
Shaped by community.
