Immerse yourself in a full weekend of creativity with our “Weekend Wheel Throwing Intensive” at Kin Pottery Works, Sheffield. Designed for beginners and developing potters alike, this two-day wheel throwing workshop in Sheffield offers plenty of time on the pottery wheel, expert demonstrations and personalised tuition to help you build confidence and refine your technique.
With just eight spots available, you'll enjoy an exceptional learning experience while creating a collection of handmade ceramics to be glazed and fired by us after the weekend. If you’re looking for an inspiring weekend activity in Sheffield, this intensive is the perfect way to accelerate your pottery journey. Includes all clay, tools glazing and firing.
Unlimited tea, coffee and light refreshments are provided throughout the weekend. Please bring a packed lunch or visit one of the fantastic cafés and eateries in Abbeydale (just a short walk from the studio) during the lunch break.
Suitable for ages 12+ .Children to be accompanied by an adult. Shorter nails are recommended for wheel throwing.

Immerse yourself in a full weekend dedicated to the pottery wheel. Designed for beginners and developing potters alike, this intensive combines expert demonstrations, personalised tuition and plenty of hands-on practice to help you build confidence and accelerate your skills.
Saturday: Foundations
Welcome to the studio and introduction to wheel throwing
Preparing and centring clay
Throwing cylinders and bowls
Developing consistency and confidence
Individual tuition throughout the day
Sunday: Refinement
Trimming and finishing your work
Attaching handles and other decorative elements
Surface decoration such as slips or carving
Additional throwing practice if time allows
Picking your glazes for us to complete for you
Each session is 4.5 hours long and includes a 20 minute clean up at the end, which is an important aspect of pottery, ensuring students learn about safe and healthy working practices.
Your pieces will be ready to collect within 4-6 weeks.
